Volunteer with Us This Summer at the Gonzales Farmers Market

Looking for a meaningful way to give back this summer? Join the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project as a volunteer at the Come and Take It Farmers Market in Gonzales, TX, every third Saturday of the month. Help us share the story of the Buffalo, connect with the community, and promote Indigenous foodways through the sale of USDA-certified Buffalo meat.

What You’ll Do as a Volunteer

As an ambassador for the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and breaking down the market booth (tent, tables, signage, coolers)

  • Welcoming customers and creating a friendly, educational space

  • Sharing talking points on the sacred role of the Buffalo in Native cultures

  • Selling Buffalo meat, tracking basic inventory, and handling cash/card payments (training provided)

  • Maintaining food safety and booth cleanliness

  • Answering questions or directing people to staff for more information

  • Spreading awareness by passing out flyers and collecting emails for our newsletter

  • Location: Texas Heroes Square, Gonzales, TX (Intersection of St. Joseph St. & St. Louis St.)

  • Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
