The other day, we stood together and watched as baby number five was born, shortly after the herd arrived from our Waelder location to their new home in Floresville. It’s been more than a century since this land has felt the warmth of a new Iyane’e calf stumbling to stand, fresh from its mother’s womb.
By chance—or maybe by something greater—our whole team was there. We witnessed it together. And in that moment, we knew we weren’t just seeing a birth. We were witnessing a prayer come to life.
This month is National Bison Month, but at Texas Tribal Buffalo Project, every day is Bison Day. July simply gives us the space to slow down, share more stories, and reflect on the work, the healing, and the deep remembering that carries us forward.
