Texas Tribal Buffalo Project Accepted Into the National Native Nonprofit List for #GiveNative and Giving Tuesday 2025
Celebrating a Major Milestone for Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Buffalo Restoration in Texas
Texas Tribal Buffalo Project is honored to announce that we have officially been accepted into the Native Nonprofit List on GiveNative.org, the national directory of verified Native-led and Native-serving nonprofits created by the Native Ways Federation. This recognition comes just in time for the 2025 #GiveNative campaign and Giving Tuesday on December 2, 2025.
Being added to the Native Nonprofit List is a significant milestone for TTBP. It confirms what we have always centered in our work: Indigenous leadership, Indigenous knowledge, and Indigenous solutions guiding the restoration of buffalo and Native foodways in Texas.
What This Means for TTBP
Our acceptance into the Native Nonprofit List affirms that Texas Tribal Buffalo Project meets the criteria of a Native-led and Native-serving organization:
More than 51% of our board and leadership are Native
Our mission directly supports Native communities, cultural restoration, food sovereignty, and buffalo rematriation
Our programs uplift Indigenous ecological knowledge and community-based solutions
This listing not only gives TTBP national visibility, it also allows donors to find and support our work through a trusted, secure directory created specifically for Native-led organizations.
What Is the Native Nonprofit List?
The Native Nonprofit List is housed on GiveNative.org, the new central platform for discovering, supporting, and donating to Native-led nonprofits year-round.
Organizations on the list include:
✔ 501(c)(3) nonprofits
✔ 7871 Tribal nonprofits
✔ Fiscally sponsored Native-led programs
All must demonstrate Native leadership and a mission that directly serves Native nations, communities, and people.
The Native Ways Federation does not collect donations on behalf of listed organizations. Instead, donors use the directory to find Native-led nonprofits and contribute directly to their work — ensuring that funding reaches the community.
Why #GiveNative Matters
Native-led organizations currently receive less than 0.5% of philanthropic funding in the United States — a stark gap that directly affects food sovereignty, land access, ecological restoration, language revitalization, and cultural wellness across Native communities.
#GiveNative exists to change that.
The 2025 #GiveNative campaign runs from November 13 at 1 p.m. ET through December 9, with Giving Tuesday on December 2, 2025. During this period, Native Ways Federation highlights Native-led nonprofits nationwide and spreads awareness about the importance of giving directly to Indigenous organizations.
They also offer additional prizes and incentives for Native-led nonprofits that receive donations during the campaign — giving supporters a chance to amplify their impact.
Why This Matters for Texas Tribal Buffalo Project
Our inclusion in the Native Nonprofit List comes at a time when Native-led land and food sovereignty efforts are more important than ever.
By supporting TTBP through GiveNative.org or our Giving Tuesday campaign, donors help us:
Feed and care for our buffalo herd
Restore buffalo to Texas homelands
Protect and rebuild Native foodways
Teach community-based, culturally rooted environmental knowledge
Sustain tribal-led stewardship that serves future generations
This recognition also connects us with a national movement of donors who specifically seek to support Native-led solutions.
